Staff Development and In-Service Workshops
Lions Quest offers one-day Staff Development In-Service Workshops, which are great, abbreviated workshops for Lions Quest Skills for Growing, Skills for Adolescence, K-8, and Skills for Action educators! These one-day Professional Development Workshops provide updated, program-related research, reinforce skills and strategies, and offer the opportunity to network with Lions Quest teachers to share ideas and successes and discuss problems. Each workshop highlights a specific topic within Lions Quest’s current curriculum, providing a more in-depth analysis and discussion. LCIF will be offering the following one-day workshops (prices may vary for HI & AK):
Classroom Discipline: Establishing Responsibility And Respect Workshop (Grades K-12)
This workshop is for educators who want to implement new strategies for creating a positive classroom environment- including how to set rules, establish consequences, and handle classroom discipline, while keeping student and teacher dignity in tact. The cost of this workshop is $2,995 for up to 50 participants.
Introduction To Service-Learning: Implementation And Integration Workshop (Grades K-12)
Educators and community members attending this one-day, highly interactive, professional development workshop will learn the four essential steps of successful service-learning and the elements of a high quality service-learning project. They will learn how to integrate the service-learning methodology into any school subject using case studies and develop an implementation plan. Participants will learn about the strong link between service-learning, academic achievement, and success in school and will receive their very own copy of The Complete Guide to Service Learning, a book by author Cathryn Berger Kaye, that provides a wealth of activities, ideas, resources and more, to encourage K-12 service-learning. The cost of this workshop is $2,995 for up to 50 participants.
Managing Anger, Resolving Conflict, And Preventing Violence Workshop (K-12)
This workshop prepares educators, support staff, and community members to teach young people in grades K-12 skills in anger management, conflict resolution, and violence prevention. Teachers experience better classroom management, while students develop classroom rules, demonstrate respect, and learn how to negotiate with peers. Students learn ways to control their anger, resolve their own conflicts, and communicate more effectively. Students practice and apply their skills, and serve as positive role models for their peers, ultimately leading to safer schools. The cost of this workshop is $2,500 for up to 36 participants.
Re-Quest (Review) Workshop (Grades K-12)
This "refresher" workshop is designed for educators, support staff, and community members who are currently teaching Skills for Growing, Skills for Adolescence, and Skills for Action. In this workshop, you will learn about updated, program-related research, reinforcement of skills and strategies, suggestions for increasing program support, how to create an environment conducive to learning, ideas for group work and review how to set student expectations, how to monitor and evaluate group work, how to apply the benefits of group work to Lions Quest programs, and the strategy of effective questioning. The cost of this one-day workshop is $2,500 for up to 50 participants.
Supporting & Strengthening Workshop (Grades K-12)
In this workshop, support staff will explore and Lions Quest program framework and components, review materials, explore characteristics of children and adolescents, discuss the various classroom strategies that educators can employ, and learn about climate assessment and improvement strategies, while understanding how the school-community-family can work together. Support staff will begin to understand how meaningful their roles will be, in supporting Lions Quest programs within their school. The cost of this one-day workshop is $2,500 for up to 50 participants.
Teens-- Alcohol And Other Drugs Workshop (Grades 9-12)
"Teens-- Alcohol and Other Drugs" is a supplemental, thematic unit of Skills for Action (9-12), that provides in-depth coverage of one of the most urgent issued facing youth today! In this workshop, educators will receive the tools to help students gain the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors they need to grow up healthy and drug-free, while resisting alcohol and other drugs within school. The cost of this workshop is $2,500 for up to 50 participants.
